The Vin Fiz Flight / Il volo del Vin Fiz

On October 9, 1910, William Randolph Hearst offered a prize of $ 50,000 to anyone who, within the coming year, flew from Boston or New York via Chicago to either Los Angeles or San Francisco or vice-versa, in 30 days. Calbraith Perry Rodgers accepted Hearst's offer and sought the financing to make the venture possible. The Vin Fiz Company of Chicago saw the promotional possibilities and came to the rescue with the necessary funding. History of the first postal coast to coast flight.
